I just put on 20" Defenders on my 1/2 ton SUV. Great tire. But still on the softer side of things. May be the LT versions in other sizes stiffen up.
I had tried KOA2's about 2 months ago but suffered VERY poor dry traction and tread squirm while towing. The 123" short wheelbase was likely a factor in this, but I felt unsafe with them and took them off.
Having tried so many tires on my tow vehicles, I feel ATR's (LTX ATR might be the next tire for me) or at least XL rated tires are the min for towing.
HP and UHP tires are awesome for towing believe it or not, I wish more people would try them. (My best towing has been with HP and UHP tires on my SUV's) Less off road and winter driving ability is the trade off.
LT's are without a doubt the best for heavy towing with 3/4 and 1 tons. On a 1/2 ton, meh. Cant go wrong. But you may pay too much for something you dont really need are can be rough riding on everyday.
