Why a discrepancy between sticker payload & actual weight?

Buy new tires that are not the same size or load rating as the OE tires and the yellow sticker is no longer valid making it is as useless as a blinker on a BMW. If you are a "I have to stay within all manufacturer ratings to feel safe" type of person then just weigh the truck and subtract that from the GVWR.
