The powerband of that Camry's 4-cyl that got you 36mpg is not something that anyone wants in a pickup. Aerodynamic drag is a big factor of that Camry vs. even a mid-sized pickup. We shall see how well the Ram diesel performs in real owners hands. There is hope. The Audi Q5 just crossed the country at 38mpg with a 3.0L V6 diesel and 400+ lb-ft of torque. Similar results could come in a mid-sized pickup, but would people buy it?
