We looked at hundreds (not all in person) of used and new travel trailers before buying our first used one. Lots of garbage out there. We found one that had been cared for well and fit what we needed. When we started looking for our second, we wanted new, but could not afford the price for the one we wanted. We looked at used and found one a year old (older couple had purchased, husband died before they were able to use it). We got it for a good price, still had a number of things to fix and it is doing the job.
If you can afford it, nothing wrong with getting a new trailer. You will still have some items to fix or modify. If you need to buy used, just keep searching.
