We went new this summer with a 2017 Jayco 26bh. We'd settled on brand and floor plan, and were able to find a limited supply of what we wanted used, but people are kind of nuts about what they're asking. We're talking about a unit that around 16k new, and people are either asking what they paid or only a couple-three thousand less for five year old trailers.
Trailers in the price range we wanted are notoriously poorly made, so we figured for the small difference in price we'd go new and have all new components (albeit cheap components for the most part).
My wife retires in 6 months (I am already), and we'll be using the trailer for our Michigan winter escape system. We rv'd around 14 years ago, so we know we like it, and we know we'll be using it for at least the next decade.
I'm very vigilant with maintenance and preventative maintenance, so starting with a new trailer (a clean slate) appeals to me.
The warranty means very little to me, and I seldom buy any product with the warranty in mind. The rv industry, from what I have observed, isn't particularly good about honoring their warranties. If something is covered under warranty...BONUS, but I don't expect it.
