The advantage of buying used is cost. The disadvantage is selection. Finding a used unit to your liking in good shape is hard to do.
BUT.... Most people really have no idea how they will actually use a TT... Most will find that whatever they buy, lacks in some areas.
IOW, a newbie imagines how he will use a TT... But often finds after the purchase that how he imagined it, isn't reality. Also, things can change over time. So you might as well buy used for the first TT. Get your feet wet, and find out just what features are actually important to you. Then you won't lose your shirt on it, when you sell it and then buy a new one that better fits how you will use it.
In my case, First TT was used. The next two were new. My future TTs will be new, as I am now pretty particular about getting exactly what I want
