I usually keep whatever I buy long after depreciation is an issue, so that didn't concern me.
We looked around for a couple years before deciding to buy. Friends of ours bought a pretty old TT that was in great shape - previous owners were retired, and I think spent all their time maintaining the camper. I've come to decide it was a bit of a "unicorn" in the world of used campers!
When we decided to buy, the dealer we went to literally the day before just got in the exact camper we wanted. It was what we wanted, price was fair.
That was 14 years ago. TT has been great, and is still going strong. If our camper has a major failure we'll probably buy something else... I keep going back and forth about a truck camper!
One thing about a used camper that I would do immediately - replace ALL foam mattresses and seats. Any smell in the camper is probably 98% in that old foam, and you will be sleeping on new mattresses. If not replacement, use a new foam "topper" on the beds. So when looking at a used camper, keep that cost in mind.
New or used, if you find what you really want... buy it and go camping!
