Jul 25, 2017Condition and price. When we looked at used units, I saw tons that were not maintained very well. I'm not talking about things like the condition of the furniture or carpet. I'm talking about the things that will bite you later like bad caulking, rust, and signs of leaks. A lot of the RVing population has no clue on how to properly maintain their units. I'm pretty handy and like fixing things, but I would rather spend time camping and traveling. Not properly fixing someone's repair attempt or the lack there of.
Price was another issue. Some used units were priced correctly, but they were not in good shape at all. The ones in decent shape were a bit overpriced. I know a well maintained unit can command a premium, but some of these prices were pretty close to the price of a new unit. We decided to wait a little longer, save a little more money, and order a new unit exactly the way we wanted it.
