Why don't the manufacturers recommend LT tires??

I'm using Endurance ST tires. But a lot of people who I consider to be very smart use LT tires. So reasonable minds can differ on that point; the fact that so many smart folks use LT tires causes me...

I agree "cost" .

Just a thought......I'm not up on LT tire sizes but in some applications (because you might have to go to a larger wheel) the new LT tires/wheels would have to fit without rubbing on something and the number of studs might be a factor as well.
If doing that added more weight, then those gross axle weight numbers might be a factor. It might be more of expense than just a tire.
