Why don't the manufacturers recommend LT tires??

Followup to my earlier comment about trailer manufacturers stating the applicability of LT for trailer use, the dexter axle manual I have here also states that both ST and LT are appropriate fitment.

Looks to me this is a simple case of buyer choice, for whatever reasons one might have regarding one over the other.

To word it another way to Dan's original question, "the manufacturers, at least the trailer and axle companies, do in fact recco LT tires".
