Why is Fridge Sweating?

Just got back from a trip and we noticed that our fridge is constantly dripping water from the fins. It's as if it is defrosting. We had to keep wiping down food containers and when we got home and emptied it, I did plug into shore power and have it running but we now need to put towels down inside to keep water from making puddles. On the trip, we had several cans of soda have little ice formations on the cans. Any ideas as to what's happening. This tt is only 2 months old.
Thanks

  • Thanks for all the info. I did the dollar bill test and if I'm doing it right, it does seem that the bill comes out a little too easily. I did also notice that the thermistor was not conneted to the tab that sits on one of the fins. It was off and stuck behind the fins. I re attached it and now we'll see what happens. I do suspect though that I am going to have to have the door seals looked at.
  • My Norcold has a tray and tube. I found hairline crack in the tray, probably from something being pushed against it. The water ran down in the fridge. Found a replacement online for $15. Now it drains outside.
  • Some refrigerators have a drain tube, some don't.

Every time you open the door, you introduce warm moist air, the moisture condenses on the cold fins.
  • Mine often drips some from the fins. I have no drain tube, just a tray to catch the water which then has to be dumped out now and then. I have some friends that had a similar set up but, someone had lost there tray so the water then just dripped into the fridge.
  • I'd also check to make sure the drain tube isn't plugged up (and draining outside, not in the small little pan) It doesn't take much to introduce moisture into these fridges if you leave it open for a while loading or unloading, or food hunting :p. Did you switch from propane to electric? I find propane seems to run cooler than electric, but I doubt there is evidence to prove that :B
  • Check the drain tube from drip pan....does it have a 'plug-check valve' installed in the end.

Helps keep warm air from entering food section up thru drain line

    Has it been HUMID?
Each/every time you open/close door warm moist air is introduced into fridge (cool air out...warm air in).....especially if open/close/open/close or worst yet---lookie louing
  • Make sure the door seals aren't leaking using the dollar bill trick on them.
