I have always felt a WD hitch is like chicken soup, I cannot hurt. Away back in the 1970’s I had a 14 ft. Shasta pulled by a behemoth Plymouth wagon and it had a WD hitch.
Now I pull a 5000 lb. TT with an F-150. On a recent trip my wife was able to follow me in another car. She was looking for sway, fish tailing or anything else that I might not notice. There was none. My biggest issue is with wind gusts and passing trucks, both of which give an annoying side push to the TT; still it does not fish tail.
I would take a test drive and note exactly what is happening. WD hitch is supposed to shift the TT weight forward to add more weight to the front for better steering. It will level the TV and TT to eliminate tail drop. It even shift a small portion of the tongue weight back to the TT.
It would be nice if you could try or rent before you buy.
