There are varying opinions on independent suspension. As it was suggested to me, IRS is one of the many aspects of this SUV that makes it suvh a great towing vehicle. I can't argue the finer points, but trust the source of the info as he's set up thousands of towing vehicles. Not being smug, literally saying I can't argue the benefits of IRS. As I recall, cliff note version is how power and braking are directly applied to the road through each individual tire, reducing in roll, and assorted handling issues.
