Why is there this disdaine for the Navigator?
The kids are much safer in the Navigator while traveling. Something designed to carry passengers.
OP wants to spend his families HARD EARNED money on whatever they please it's up to them. No different than someone buying a loaded 4x4 Cummins crew cab and a loaded fifth wheel...it all about what someone wants.
And, the Ecoboost seems to do a fine job with a heavy load going downhill in an f150...it would be no different in the Navigator.
