Dual 2.5" pipes. The stock muffler had large pipes, but internals on the stock muffler were only about 2 1/4" - 2.5". When the exhaust was first done they didn't put a H pipe in and it was even worse as well as to **** loud.

I have an H pipe, but I can still tell the difference.Stefonius wrote:Thunderbolt wrote:That's because of the Chevy's firing order (1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3). Cylinders on the same bank fire concurrently (2-6), while cylinders on the opposite bank fire with a long pause between two of them (7-x-x-5). This creates uneven pressure waves through a true dual exhaust system and disrupts the flow of gasses. Install a collector "Y" or "H" pipe in the system to even it out.
I have an 03 with the 6.0 and the worst upgrade I did was true dual exhaust. I lost power down low compared to the stock exhaust. I will go back to a single 3" when I need exhaust.
How big are the pipes? Did you run two 2.5" pipes? I was debating a full true-dual exhaust or just replacing the muffler with a Flo-Pro "big block" muffler.....
IF my memory serves me correctly, the newer trucks have a Y-collector somewhere after the second CAT and that goes into a 2.5" pipe to the muffler then out the rear? Or does it go into a dual in single out muffler?
