I really don't believe most of what I just read on this thread.. It mostly is people making excuses for the ST tires poor performance. Since the TV goes everywhere the TT does and much more, then why do the LT or P tires not fail just as often?
It really has everything to do with price.
The govt. has much lower testing standards for ST tires. This is justified as TTs and 5vers are not suppossed to carry passengers. Most everyone from the manufacturers to the consumer benefits...Usually.
Most TTs don't get used very often, or go very far. I read one article that stated that the average TT is pretty much parked after it's third year.. I can believe it as my first TT had been stored by the previous owner for 14 years!!
So most people simply cannot justify paying for a lot for a TT tire. The result is that nobody makes a premium ST tire. LT tires are made at many different price points and quality levels as enough people will spring for a premium LT tire to make it worthwhile for the manufacturers.
Most of he people on this forum do not fit into the catagory I just described, but like it or not, we are in the minority.
Since we tend to use our stuff more and harder than most, the weak points show up.
