I would add that all that rubber you see on the road is not from TTs. It is from the semi's. And no, it is not from recaps like in the old days. Yet I have not heard of a truck tire crisis.
I have yet to see the actual facts on the failure rate of "P", "ST" and "LT" tires.
We do know that a few year back there were some Chinese tire imported with serious problems, hence the expression "China bombs". We also know that a few years before that, Ford was having serious problems with Firestone tires. This stuff just happens from time to time.
