The big advantage of "egg shell" TT is that the roof and the edge are one piece molded, just like a fiberglass boat. There is no real "edge". The seam
(I assume) is on the vertical surface.
Hole for vents, etc. can have flange/flashing molded into the roof. This means any sealant are not used to prevent water intrusion, only to eliminate vibration and prevent bugs from entering. Mounting is another issue.
