Wieght hitch bars when backing into sloped driveway

Hi all.
Next question.
I have a sloped driveway. Minimum guess is around 20 degrees
I have the hitch in my signature. When backing into my driveway I have to turn in and can't back straight in because of our street. Should I remove the friction bars before I back in? Will they bend if I turn up that much of a slope.

I swore the last time it looked like my driver side wheels on the trailer were about to come off the ground...but i pulled back forward and didn't check..

I can post a picture of the driveway if needed.

Thanks
  • I remove my bars before I back my trailer up my sloped driveway. If I didn't I'd rip my rear stabilizers off.
  • Two things. If there is strain on the hitch head without the bars on could the trailer pop off the hitch?

Second how do you know the bars are at their limit? Is it possible they are so strong they could tip the trailer before failing?
  • Since you have to remove the sway control after parking anyway, just remove it before you back.
Or, have someone watch the sway bar while you back and see if it's nearing the limit of it's movement.
I suspect it's fine though, forward or backward (doesn't matter) they can take an awful lot of articulation.
