It looks like the split in the mold when the tire is formed but does not make sense that it only shows once the tire is worn down. Like others have posted, I would be looking under the rear wheel wells for protrusions that may make contact with the tire only during extreme wheel travel.
Since it is only happening on the rear tire positions, I have a hard time believing it is the tire mold. On the other hand, the rear may be wearing faster which shows this manufacturing detail sooner than the front.
