Wife is not a fan of camping

I think I'm going to show my therapist my trailer/van setup tonight and ask if he thinks I should tweak the weight distribution a bit...

I understand how difficult it is with three children, one being an infant. Been there, done that. Camping can be a challenge in that situation but not impossible if both of you share the duties. I had to Man Up and help DW more than ever.
When we were in that mode, two daughters and infant son, we did the beach thing mostly at Galveston SP, San Louis Pass KOA (now Brazoria Co. park) and Freeport beach (now Quintana Beach park). We also went to Palmetto SP so the girls could play in the river and it was a quick tow down I10. We didn't wander too far off until the baby was a little older. There are several hassle free places close by where the girls can have fun.

On Edit: Thinking more on this, pack a tent. The girls loved sleeping in the tent and it made setting up and tearing down indoor sleeping quarters every night unnecessary. We still have there Disney tent stored away awaiting GKs.

Simple meals. They don't care what they eat so make it easy on yourself. Sandwiches and chips make it easy. Can soups and chili frito pies were a gourmet meal back then. Have grapes, sliced apples, oranges, bananas around so they don't dehydrate.

Once our kids got older we would sometimes camp not too far from San Marcos, such as Palmetto, Martindale or New Braunfels so the girls could make a trip to the Mother Ship Outlet Mall (Tanger) and my son and I stayed and played at the river. Everyone was happy.

Sounds to me like a typical guy of that age range. Selfish jerk. Pretty much why all the women I meet closer to my age have been divorced. They put up with the bullsh*t until the kids are grown and then dump the loser.

Oh man, this was classic. I'm so glad that the DW posted and filled in all the blanks. With the kind of head she has on her shoulders, I'd think things are going to work out well.

I happened to marry a great gal, heretofore, nom de plume, HRH The Polish Princess. She knows I duly refer to her Royal lineage so all is OK. there. She has let me hang around for 36 years and most of the time our wavelengths are almost eerily in sync. I do obey most Royal Edicts when they come through channels and Her Highness repays that in the love only she could deliver. It is a good thing and I never dreamed I would be associated with Royalty. Just lucky, I guess.

Here's a thing a friend of mine shared with me and a few guys recently when one of our group was unhappy with his better half,"I see my wife as a gift from God. Every day when I wake up, I think of what I can do to repay this wonderful gift. What kind of man would treat this gift as something unworthy or think bad of the giver?" It works for me.

When I post about my wife on this forum, she knows about it. I don't hide anything from her. As far as camping goes, as long as she has a toilet, she will go.
Also, we share responsibilities when loading up and setting up along with taking everything down and putting it away. We both have certain items that we are better at. I'm good at setting up the rig, water, chemicals, tools, etc. She is better at the clothes and food. She does most of the cooking inside and I do most of the cooking outside. Most of our cooking is outside when camping. My biggest problem is getting away enough to keep us both happy.
It is important to spend quality time together. Go camping when you get a chance and enjoy life. By the way, I hope you keep participating on the forum.

Happy to hear it's not the "drama" it was made out to be, I'm sure the two of you will work things out.

The DW here, one more time lol I had no intent of being on this forum, but after hubby shared it w/ me, and I read through it all, I just wanted to clear up some things, b/c, well, who wouldn't want to defend themselves? Sometimes, it's easier to put things on paper even though they have been said, so there's no questions. I promise, this is not a big "issue" like some think it is- we r not working out any marital stuff on here. My husband is very frustrated, yes, but this was simply a communication/listening thing, and I guess my husband thought he could find help here for what he THOUGHT was the problem at the time. I challenge anyone to say the communication/listening in their relationship(s) is perfect on both sides. Thanks to those finding the intended humor in my response- no meds or counseling necessary, YET! Give us 50 more yrs of RVing and we'll get back to you ;)

In the words of Forrest Gump, "that's all I have to say abt that" lol. Anyone feel like talking abt geocaching now? That is something our entire family enjoys together, and I hear a lot of RV-ers are into it as well! Now I am off to sort through half a storage shed of camping stuff of my parents' we unloaded last night to stock our camper w/; I'm pretty sure there's some neat WWII era stuff of my PawPaw's in there that I'm eager to check out!!

Was there a bad experience camping? Why is she ripping your head off when you bring up camping? My wife of 45 years was unhappy with camping because she said I get up too early and was "farting" around and would wake her up. We compromised the wake up time, even though I might lay around for an hour awake, and that worked out. Good news is that she now wants to camp every chance we get.

Might I suggest working out your trailer, camping and marital issues outside this RV forum? While it might make for entertaining reading, this sort of discussion is best left between husband and wife at home.
