Actually I did pay "CASH" for the difference. I slapped a thick envelope down on the counter and the manager and paper work guy each counted and said "you are 2K short" that was embarrassing!!!!

Totally agree better to finance if rates are cheap but I LIKE owing no one! Paid my house off early it had a really cheap loan. I wanted to be debt free at 50 and I was at 49. :B

I paid 27k for my first house and I have 6k more than that in this truck and hauler bed and other towing mods. It WILL do everything I want, maybe forever, cuz I'd rather stay within this trucks limits than build another one the way I want it. Craig

True, I never answer anything about my preferred monthly payment. I strictly go and tell them what I'll pay. I'll also add that if anyone has cash for a $70,000 truck then I'm the last person they should listen to for financial advice! I'm hoping to keep my current truck for a long time but I say that every time I get something new. I did tell my wife on the F450 I was not making any promises like I did on the F250.

To the original poster, as far as which truck to buy I really think they are all great trucks. I like the Fords but I'm sure the GMC and RAM's are great also. If you are not brand loyal I'd drive all three and see which one you and your wife prefer.

I imagine the best thing about paying cash is when the dealer starts asking what monthly payment you want you can tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine and just give you the best OTD price. I bet they'd rather deal than see you go over to the brand x lot!

I see your point and not arguing at all but if I had $70,00 cash for a new truck I'd still not pay cash for it. I'm not saying I'm right, just saying I believe you can make more money by investing that cash elsewhere when interest rates have been 2%-4%. I financed my new F450 through Ford just for the rebates then immediately refinanced it through USAA. My sister paid cash for a new $60,000 SUV when they had 0% financing. I thought she was crazy.

I tried to pay cash and get a lower price for a new zero turn radius Kubota mower last year. Sales guy told me he could care less if I paid cash or not and not one penny discount for cash. They wanted me to finance it through them. If they do that I'll pay by credit card just so they have to pay the 3% or so fee. I went elsewhere but o was little surprised by not them not preferring the cash offer. Different than a car I know but they love for buyers to finance.

not sure about that statement.. not many places to put money to make money plus if pay cash for the truck and something happens to the owner, loss of job, accident, etc at least you have something to sell or live in.

One thing you do not want to do, in most cases, is go with dealership financing plan. Most are high interest rate deals sometimes with terms that make prepayment not a good thing for the loan payer.

Best place to get a loan is local credit union or small town bank. Better rates, terms etc.

ME i never buy new.. unless you get one hell of a deal you are losing money when you drive off the lot.

That was not true always in 2009 till 2011 or so as new cars (trucks etc) were discounted, sometimes, below used vehicles prices..
