When I upgraded last year I talked with a buddy who has worked as a diesel mechanic for 15 years (mostly on Fords). He said his first choice would be a Chevy with a Cummins engine (I think a lot of people want one of those), and second choice would be a straight up Ram if he was buying one now. I bought a 2014 Ram Laramie CC 4x4 and have been very happy with it. Have a little over 12K miles on it with 1500 of those towing our 10K+ travel trailer and another 500 or so with my equipment trailer. Truck both tows great and is a good daily driver, fuel economy is good for as big as it is, and I am happy with it. Before this, it is the first Chrysler that I have had in over 30 years, been mostly GM with a Ford or two in the mix for trucks. That is what has worked for me. Now that being said, my neighbor just bought a GMC 2500 SLT with the 6.0 gasser and it looks like a very nice truck too. He said that they are dealing big time on the gas trucks here, just not on the Duramax ones.
