I am looking for a new/used truck to pull my travel trailer. I have a Keystone Passport Ml199 that weights 3800 lbs empty. I would like to get decent gas mileage since it will be an every day driver. The truck I am looking at is a 2014 Chevy Silverado LT Double Cab 4x2, 6 cylinder. The specs sheet says 6,000 to 7,100 lbs, and I know those are over estimated. What do you think?
Thank you,
Steve
Youll be fine.. 425 lb tongue weight. trailer is light..
The new v6 motors starting 2014 have as much power as my 5.3l.
my 2006 has 295 hp and 335ft tq @4000 rpms. I tow 4800 dry about 6000 loaded with a 740 lb TW. Been up and down the east coast and up and down the smokeys. Tenn, NC ect.. And I have a 4 speed...lol
9mpg towing at best
19 highway ( around town? Lets not talk about it)
The new v6's
It’s an aluminum-block 4.3-liter rated at 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of?torque @3900 rpm. It even has a new name, Ecotec3, to help distinguish it from last year’s 195-hp 4.3-liter Vortec V-6 with its cast-iron block and heads.
Youll do fine. Let the engine rev.
My old 4.3 I towed with was great as that motor made all its torgue @ 2800 rpms. They were good motors IMO.
If I got a new truck it would be with the V6 hands down.
