I will just say that the upper weight limits on trucks are intended for towing boats which only require a 7% tongue weight and cut through the air a good deal better than most brick shaped travel trailers. That is why you typically run out of cargo capacity first because of the 12-15% tongue weights required by travel trailers.
Because of that I recommend keeping the weight under 8500 gross for a half ton truck. I have seen a Pinto wagon hauling a flatbed trailer with a Bobcat on it that had to weigh 10,000 pounds but that doesn't mean it was smart.
