FreeLanceing,
One way of not worring about insurance coverage on everything you own that's insurable is to have one complete blanket policy. Home, property, vehicles, RV's etc. BIG multi-policy discounts are the norm. It's much cheaper than having various insurance policies and there's no loopholes on anything. You live in the same locality as we do and by combining into a full blanket policy with a Michigan based Insurance group we cut our total yearly premimums more than in half. This was done over 20 years ago and I get quotes from at least 2 other insurance companies each year to make sure we are still saving big time and we sure are! Ours happens to be Citizens Insurance base in Howell, MI and our agent is Oakes located downtown but you may find another to your liking.
Had 2 claims on our RV's (one in 2006-7 from a tree going thru our 5th big 3 axle Carriage parked on our acreage up north will we we in Montana with our TC. The insurance coverage and payout was simply outstanding and they couldn't do enough for us. We are talking a very big cash settlement and even let us buy back the carcass for what it would cost them to have it hauled away which we then sold to a friend who rebuilt it over the winter and it lives again and it's gorgeous and looks new.
The other claim was from a tornado going over us in Florida last winter when in a CG and falling large branches ripped 6 gashes in the 29' Carriage Carrilite's rubber roof. The insurance paid 100% of the total replacement including recovering the plywood which was also gouged and the new thru roof vents and side moldings etc. Never a question or any skimping done or attempted. Nope, our premimums didn't raise a dime and are still $35/6 months with $100 deductible full coverage on the Carrilite and just paid it about 2 weeks ago.
Coverage includes $2000 personal contents in the RV and above that is covered by our same insurance company blanket home owners plan. Also has a $2000 trip interuption coverage and full towing separate from the auto policy. Out big Lance TC same policy premimum is $32/6 months. No claims had on our vehicles or our main home. Home is insured for $450k total. We have sold or other places now due to our age but still have 2 other plots of land acreages here in Michigan which they include also in our policy and also my finished to match our home pole building is covered. We have totally clean driving records for more than 20 years and of course that helps too.
I can't say enough about the positive of having one blanket policy covering everything as there can be no fighting between insurance comapanies since there's only one! Our total premimum for everything including the vehicles with full coverage, home, RV's, properties, pole building, etc is under $2000/year. The blanket policy also has decreasing deductibles for the vehicles and the home and are now down the under $100 on each from the $250 deductible it started at. Very tough to beat!
My Brother in Florida pays almost 4 times what we pay and he only has one vehicle and one RV and his home which is valued within 50K of ours. Weather, hurricanes, and many other factors make huge differences in insurance premiums.
BTW, only a few branches and a few dead trees fell in our area from Sunday's wind storm. Ine fell across a main electric feeder line and we lost power for approx 3-1/2 hours before they got it fixed. Lake Michigan and all the big sandunes really do help us along the shoreline!
Could possibly be of help to you also.
