Windjammer tire chocks ???

I have a 2016 Windjammer 3029W that has a 28 inch outside tire diameter and only 1.5 inch space between the tires. Can't find any chocks to fit. I've tried those yellow plastic V shaped wedges but they still allow movement when walking around in the trailer. Was looking for something like those chocks that BAL has
BAL Chocks.

Even these won't work because they required a minimum of 3 ½ inch spacing between the tires. Chocks

Can anyone help out. ???
  • I have a 2014 3008w Windjammer and the x chocks work fine for me

Does it REALLY matter if it wiggles a little bit? After all it is a trailer. It used to concern me but as time went by I use fewer and fewer "cures". Now I am down to the yellow chocks on one wheel each side and my front and rear jacks and stabilizers. Less junk to mess with when I set up. Works for me.B.O.

With me- NO. But with the wife it does. So guess what... :)

I don't think any kind of wheel chocks are going to solve the issue you have described. IMO 95% of the movement inside a trailer when walking around is from simple tire sidewall flex and suspension and you will only get rid of or reduce that by taking tension off those two sources of movement.

I know some say some of these fancier chocks help, but IMO I think a lot of that preceived improvement is from the Placebo Syndrome and not from actual improvement, but that is just my unsupported opinion.

My wife would heartily disagree as she always insists I use our set of BAL X-Chocks, which according to her do significantly minimize trailer "wiggle" when walking around inside the camper. No, they won't do much for lateral movement but they do noticeably reduce rotational movement about the axis of the axles and along with properly tensioning the stabs we find our rig about as reasonably stable as it could be short of taking it off it's suspension entirely. :B

Notice I specifically mentioned "fancier" chocks and just normal chocking of both wheels on each side using the cheapo run of the mill chocks would accomplish I would wager about 75% or better as much as the much more expensive and fancier chocks like the BAL X-Chocks.

My main point is proper "FRAME SUPPORT" near the axles will minimize or eliminate "ALL SOURCES" of wiggle/movement/etc. and not just one like the BAL X-Chocks.

  • Am I missing something here? I always just set my chocks against the angle of the ground so my trailer doesnt want to roll away. Once i set my stabilizers nothing really budges but the bouncing up and down when the kids are barreling in and out the door

If im ever lucky enough to find a level campsite i just chock both sides of the tire

The only time ive ever had any front to back movement worth mentioning is when the bracket holding my tongue jack in place was loose

I agree with you about half way. Anything you can do to dampen the suspension is going to bring better results. That would include the Bal X chock. I don't believe tire sidewall deflection is typically felt inside the trailer. That deflection is small and occurs slowly from larger weight transfer. I could be wrong but I've stood on a lot of tires and they don't compress much.

The OP may have a better result using a larger rubber chock and placing them outboard of the wheels to eliminate and for-aft movement.

I don't have a horse in the race because I have Torflex axles with shocks. There is very little movement with that system. I place shocks outboard of the tires.

Why "something like" the BAL chocks? Minimum space required between the tires at their closest point is just 1 & 3/8" for the BAL X-Chocks so why wouldn't they work for you? :h
