Window Awnings

You hardly see these on TT's. I wonder why that is? I look and a lot of Motorhomes and Fivers have Window Awnings. Just about the only TT's that I see them on is Airstreams.

I can see the benefit of them, they provide more shade and help keep the coach cooler, etc.

Would you like to see them more as standard options on TT's?

Thanks!

Jeremiah

  • Another nice place for a window awning is over the dump valves. Stay out of the sun and rain.
  • none of my RVs, 3 MH and 1 TT, came with standard window awnings. I had to add them myself. what brands came with them "standard", not as an ordered option?

  • Funny you mention it, I just noticed these for the first time on two this summer. Both Class A (Pace Arrow was one).
  • We winter in Arizona and had one large window awning installed over the two windows in the slide out. Really helps with keeping that area cooler when in direct sun. It does cut down on the view when fully extended but we added a short length of cord to the pull strap to allow for some adjustment. I think the reasons manufacturers don't have this as a option is that they can be expensive and they can be easily added later. Most luxury type options seem to appear on the Class A units first before filtering down to trailer units, such as auto levelers, power awnings, etc.
  • That's why I really prefer the crank out style awning windows as compared to sliding windows. With the awning style window, you can leave them open in the rain. As we're looking for a new trailer, we're seeing a lot of units with more sliders and less awning windows, and a lot of trailers have a lot less windows than our Sunline.

Personally, I wouldn't want a lot of separate window awnings as they would just be more awnings to clean...the slide out topper and main awning is enough. However, if I did a lot of camping in really hot, sunny areas, the benefits of awnings would change my opinion.
  • I have one long awning for my slide windows (dining and sofa windows) I use it sometimes and not others… it’s nice to leave the windows open during rain events and not having the rain blow in…
