- mosseaterExplorer IIAs you may know, Winnebago towables are made in the former Sunnybrook facility. Don't know what their current status is after the big buyout a few years back, but when I bought ours, Sunnybrook had some of the higher quality ratings of all the manufacturers and the longer employee retention numbers. Most have a constant parade of employees moving in and out all the time, and that's hard on quality in any industry. Sunnybrook's employees at the time had an average seniority of over ten years! Almost unheard of in the trailer industry. When employees like their work and are vested in the outcome, they build a better product.
Winnebago had just bought them out when we toured the facility and the work on the new units on the line was pretty impressive. If they retained most of their workers, they probably build about as high a quality trailer as is available today. I have nothing in this, just observations on what I saw in person. Hope this helps. - 1492ModeratorMoved from Forum Technical Support
- Nvr_lostExplorerI am on my second Winnebago product. In my opinion, Winnebago is a higher quality unit than what Coachman builds. I love the aluminum framing and the quality of their construction and cabinets. Even the hardware on the cabinets is a few steps above others. The mattress is an inner spring high quality mattress and it even came with pillows for the bed. Winnebago manufactures most of their own materials and has them available to their customers in the event you ever have to fix something in the unit. I have found their warranty coverage to be excellent. But don't just look at the obvious, look at the construction. Watch for staples where screws should be. Check for fit and finish, etc. It's worth it to pay more for quality.
