i would be worried about it scratching the linoleum as well. ikea sells the best grip pad that i've found and it also happens to be the cheapest. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60300345/
if you don't have one in your area there's other options online but i'd definitely use something similar.
along with that double pane vent cover you could get one of these http://www.amazon.com/Camco-45192-Sunshield-Insulator-Reflective/dp/B0024E6QX0 we use one and it's great.
Thanks for the tip, I am going to go with the rug underlayment, cut it a bit larger than the carpet so it with protect the sides of the cabinets.
I am not worried about it getting dirty that much as I will take it out after winter and have a second piece to use for next year. It will last a bit longer for our fam as we don't have animals and strictly enforce the no shoe rule. It is nice to have another place in the camper where the kids can hang out and play on the cozy floor. Gotta make the most of an 8' camper with a family of 4 :) especially during winter when it gets dark at like 4:30 in the afternoon!
I have used the drawer liner before on linoleum and it ended up putting stains everywhere, it basically adhered to the floor and when I pulled it up part of the liner was left behind.
