Winter Mods: Carpet Kit in My Wolf Creek and misc others

Getting ready for the winter installed carpet kit n my 850

Found a pretty good match to the small sections northwood installed at home depot, bought a large enough piece to get 2 pieces of carpet. Did the paper thing by taping a bunch of pieces of painters paper for a template, tracing on the carpet with a sharpie and cutting out. Kids are pumped and ready for a 3 week tour;)

One question, the bottom of the carpet is pretty rough and concerned it will scratch or discolor the linolium. Should I put something under the carpet? Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Also added 3 usb ports, one by the dinette under the fridge, one in the top bunk and one in the cabover night stand

Replaced fantastic van vent with dual pane vent cover

Winter here we come :)

With Dogs, rain, snow and dirt a carpet like that would get dirty way too fast in my TC. We use 5-6 bathroom carpet mats to cover the floor, we just toss in them in the washing machine at the end of each trip. Easy to keep things clean that way.

Sounds like the OP isn't to worried about keeping it clean during winter camping, and is a mod for the winter only?
  • Get some underlay and you will REALLY love the softness and the warmth!

  • Yep, get something under that carpet or it will ruin the linoleum. That carpet backing is like sand paper.

Carpet looks nice. Try shelf/drawer liner to give it more grip and help protect the flooring.

That drawer liner that everyone buys to put their glasses and dishes on works great and also keeps the carpet from laying directly on the surface, which will keep it alittle warmer.
  • I like the carpet kit, we have the same color carpet in ours. I don't know well it would hold up to our kids and dogs though!
  • Perhaps add additional insulation as a next step to make it more winter worthy...

When I improved my TC, I liberally installed extra reflectex type insulation in all the areas not visibly seen. I lined all the insides of the exterior wall in closets, cubbies, areas behind the drawers, etc. as well as the inside of exterior accessed storage places like the battery. I still have yet to get a large sheet of it for under the mattress. I also added 2" rigid within the underside exposed floor cavity.
  • i would be worried about it scratching the linoleum as well. ikea sells the best grip pad that i've found and it also happens to be the cheapest. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60300345/

if you don't have one in your area there's other options online but i'd definitely use something similar.

along with that double pane vent cover you could get one of these http://www.amazon.com/Camco-45192-Sunshield-Insulator-Reflective/dp/B0024E6QX0 we use one and it's great.
