Winterization of hot water heater?

After draining all the water from the tc,including removing the plug from the hot water heater, what else? The anode attached to the plug is half eroded away, I guess it should be replaced? Should the plug be left out so the inside of the tank might dry out. Should I blast warm air in there to try and dry it out? I'm trying to prevent premature electrolysis from pitting the aluminum. Any thoughts?

Aluminum tanks don't use anode rods.

  • I cover mine so bugs and stuff cant get in it. Make sure its bypassed, and some rinse them out to get the gunk out of them.

Nothing else needed. I leave my anode rod out for a while so the remaining water evaporates.
