Been thinking about your post for a while. Storing the camper for 3 years will take its toll on it. I'm just asking, maybe none of my business, but have you considered just selling the camper and in 3 years get a different or even a new one? Add the cost of storage for 3 years, plus the cost of 3 years of deteriation and the value remaining in the rv, and the 3 years of storage will end up costing you way more than what's left in value in the rv. I'm just asking, not wanting to be mean or anything.
That's a very good question. Of course with the trailers age, it's sale value at this point is very little.
In the scenario you laid out it would make good sense to take that approach. Even with my wife's and my attachment to that trailer (original owners, and we have used the heck out of it over the years) we could not argue with the financial side of that equation.
In this case there are some differing circumstances involved. We own the property that the trailer is stored on. This property has an RV pad with picnic table, fire pit, etc. The property is adjacent to my in-laws homes and my wife and/or I stay in the trailer when visiting during the off-season, or when passing through during the camping season.
For the next 3 years however, the TT will likely get no use. We do cover it every off-season while its parked at our home, and I suspect we will just leave that cover on it all year while it's parked at the storage property.
Thanks again for the input.
