Still sounds like a ground issue.
Have you tried using a test light on the truck wiring harness to see if there is power to the connector? Use a ground connection to the truck and not the ground in the harness.
You could also use a wire and go directly from the battery to each of the light pins in the camper harness to make sure where the problem is. Connect a ground to the pin in the camper harness.
