Yeah great choice, I believe the WC 850/840 are the best non slide campers on the market. The combination of aluminum frame, huge holding tanks, above average dinette size, huge bunk bed, above average counter space, and the most storage I have seen in an 8' camper make it the leader in the market right now.
Yes you are correct, in that it has a basement, but is much smaller size than your standard basement campers. This gives it a smaller overall height. The pass thru window is no problem to see through your rear view mirror. I actually removed my pass thru window and used a inner tube to create a weather tight seal. My kids were able to crawl through.
