wood screw tool

I have found that some of the cheaper tool sets do not have the right size square head tool that is found in most of the campers I have owned. They have other square sizes but, not the one used in campers.

Those square head are the best. I think the Torx may be as good. Phillips are a thing of the past, thank goodness!

Robertson are VERY popular in Canada as they were invented here.
However when ever I build a crate destined for the USA and beyond I make sure to use Phillips head screws OR include the Robertson bit with the shipping documents.

Sorry, Canadians, but Robertson isn't all that.
It is, fortunately, better than the clutch head fasteners found in some early trailers. I think the trailer and auto builders migrated away from the clutch head in the '70's.

As a Canadian I would guess you're as amused as I am that Americans find the superior square Robertson so mysterious, considering it's been on the market since 1908. :R P. L. Roberston is a Canadian institution in these parts and while sadly manufacturing is now in China rather than here in Milton, Ontario where it was founded at least head office is still in Ontario. If there's any unfortunate chapter to this tale it's Robertson's refusal to grant Henry Ford exclusive rights to his design, the result being Ford turned to Henry Philips who had no issue licensing his inferior cross head Philips head design to Ford, thus becoming the most common head used in the US. Like Ava I avoid slot and Philips heads like the plague and will only use the square head Robertson whenever possible.

Kline is still around. Urrea is a different company with manufacturing based in Mexico and US operations/warehouse in San Antonio. Kline's main manufacturing site in Mansfield, Tx is just down the road from me.

Most of the screws on my trailer are dual drive phillips and robertson.

Square drives are common in the electrical field any multibit screwdriver in the electrical section at a big box store will have square drive

Not sure when Kline became Urea but, this is the new incarnation of my Kline multibit screwdriver I keep in the camper. It has two sizes of square bit. I wish there were no other type screw heads.
