For pulling the logs uphill, you could use the "donkey" system, the way the old loggers used to do it before there were ATVs. (You probably already know all about this.) Using a chain, you secure your winch to a stump at the top of the hill. You attach a choke chain to the cut log, with a heavy pulley on the choker. You pass the winch cable through the pulley and back up to another stump up the hill, and then pull the log up, being careful not to exceed the winch capacity.
