Words of wisdom??

We will be headed west on I-10 West through Mobile, Ala. tomorrow and returning eastbound about a week later. Does anyone have any words of wisdom about any concerns I should have. Which lane should I stay in as I understand some do end. I'm pulling a 30' TT.

Thanks
  • Keep calm and carry on. Hold it slow and steady. I'll be driving through Boston on Wednesday. Traffic and a-holes who won't let you in are just part of the experience so you might as well enjoy it! Have fun! The journey is the best part! :W enough of the pep talk now just cowboy up and do it! :B

My advice would be to not expect to find Mobile in Mississippi, it is in Alabama.
  • The only place where you might see a backup is at the tunnel in Mobile and only if there is an accident or vehicle in the emergency lane. If you're going as far as Biloxi-Gulfport MS area, signs say through traffic stay in the outside lane (left lane) because of beach and casino traffic. Don't go Tallahassee or Mobile at rush hour. Otherwise no issues. Enjoy!
  • Almost every state has a website that let's you know about road work and closings. We check that out in case we need to adjust our route. Since you drive on interstates check at each states Welcome Center. They usually have road updates especially during warmer weather when construction is ongoing.
  • Stay in the left lane going both ways through the tunnel as you will not have the problem with traffic exiting right after the tunnel.
  • Ref post #2 ANMACC2 hope you are going thru the tunnels with propane (Boston)

Not to hijack the thread but I don't understand your response? Are propane tanks prohibited? Do I need to bypass the tunnels?
  • Eastbound the far left lane ends as you approach the tunnel. As in all metro areas it is best to avoid the "rush hours".

Pretty sure NO propane in any Boston tunnels or NYC for that matter:(.

You can check MA's transportation website to be sure.
