- Have the dealer deliver. Will not hurt a thing.

Our District Engineer always framed such questions with, "What would happen if a bus full of school children happened to pull in front of you?"
Hire it done. Won't add that much to the cost of the unit.
You can also rent a truck from Enterprise Truck, to tow you have to go with the 3/4 ton or 1 ton. Prices were reasonable, like $150 for 1 day with unlimited miles. Borrow a drop shank from the dealer.
Thanks,
I was thinking of that
Jack L - westendExplorerThe risk makes it not worth the effort. The dealer placement is the most elegant solution. An alternative may be to ask a friend that has a bigger truck and knows how to tow.
Congrats on the new trailer! - TomG2ExplorerI think somebody might be pulling our leg. It could have been a Dodge Dakota towing a fifth wheel, but that would have been too obvious.
- stevemorrisExplorersimple math, too much trailer, not enough truck
for the hour(orso) that the dealer would need to do it, you spend much more time setting up a wdh, brakes and lights
no it wont hurt the truck unless the tongue weight is way over but, as already suggested, what about that school bus load of children that pulls out in front of you
too many things can go wrong with tragic results - DownTheAvenueExplorerYou are buying a new RV from a dealer who is 3 miles from where you will be parking the trailer. Tell them to deliver it. No brainer.
- mgirardoExplorerBack in May we purchased a 40' 13,000 lb Travel Trailer about 10 miles from our Seasonal Site. We traded in our Motorhome. There was no way our Honda CRV was getting that thing home. After we negotiated the total cost, I told the salesman we did not have anyway to get the TT to our camp site and asked if they could deliver the camper to our site. We made sure they put on the contract and bill of sale that the TT would be delivered to our campground. We closed on the camper on a Tuesday, but they couldn't deliver until Wednesday (or we could have waited a week to get an opening for both on the same day). When we closed on the TT, the finance employee added a signed document that stated they would deliver it to our campsite.
There was no additional charge. The deliver driver set it up exactly where we wanted it. Checked that the three slides on the street side cleared the trees on that side of the camper, he leveled the camper, hooked up electric, water and sewer. He brought 4 cinder blocks to put under the stabilizers and lowered the stabilizers. He spent almost 2 hours setting everything up and refused to accept the tip I tried to give him.
This dealership knows what it means to treat their customers right. They know that if you treat customers right, they will come back. This is the second RV we have bought from this dealer and will certainly purchase from them again when the time comes.

Like I said earlier, I think the OP was doing a "Weight police" test, to get a reaction out of them.
