To the O.P.,
You asked a very respectful question, may I weigh in? Like anything, your comfort level with your current truck reference the recall is directly related to your depth of knowledge about the problem. The recall is based on the design's propensity to experience "death wobble", not major catastrophic component failure.
As an aside, there WAS an earlier recall for sudden tie rod fractures. This was a specific lot number from a supplier that didn't heat-treat the component properly. This could have happened to any of the major brands. Not defending Dodge, just keeping an objective view of the matter.
Chrysler's models that use these front ends DO require more attention and have less tolerance to wear than others, but they are very manageable from a maintenance standpoint. Does anyone remember Ford's twin I-Beam suspension? It was just as bad, but this is an era of litigious recalls.
Please let me encourage you; your truck isn't going to suddenly lose its steering. It might get loose and start to shimmy after tens of thousands of miles. If so, replace some tie rods, maybe a track bar or ball joints, and enjoy the next tens of thousands of miles.
As drivers and RVers, our job is to properly manage risk. In order to properly manage risk one must be informed of the relevant facts.
Thanks for listening, it's just my opinion.
