Upon further review the payload rating on your '00 Excursion is listed at 1,710 based on its curb weight (what it weighed from the factory). The only way to know if that's a good number is to weigh it at a truck scale with a driver and a full tank of gas and subtract that number from the vehicles GVWR which can be found on a sticker on the drivers door frame. There may be after market items added to the vehicle which would make it heavier therefore subtracting from its payload capacity. If you don't do that you take a chance on buying a trailer that will overload your tow vehicle! An overloaded vehicle will be hard to control and stop and will put you and your family and others around you at risk!
