Would you run these tires?

A few additional pics of these tires. One thing I learned is that tires should be FLAT across teh tread, when they start to egg out like this something is coming apart:

there are a bunch of guys on the airstream forums, airforums.com going to Michelin LTX 235 75R-15 and with new 16" wheels the larger 16 tire size with excellent results.

NO more blown tires and going for 30K miles over 5 yrs with no issues.. go over and do a search on Michelin tires and read all the good stuff..

the regular ST tires for trailers are JUNK in most cases, especially the goodyear ones..

set a up a poll and ask how many have had a blow out with goodyear marathon tires vs a michelin or any other LT type tire and the result will be amazing.. GM ST tires will lead the pack every time, for blow outs. ;)

The 265-75 is a wide base tire with a 7.7" to 8" wide tread. With that much tread the tire will have more side scrub stress than the usual tires we use on our trailers I doubt anyone makes a zero offset trailer wheel that wide plus in many cases the tire is too wide (10"-11" section width) for the wheel well.

No, that's 1215 kg, or 2680 lbs.

Of course Big O is "out of stock" on these tires, so am having these Commodore Commercial LT's installed today. I'm still wrapping up some interior work, so will be easier to take the wheels off and leave the TT on jackstands. Mount and balance out the door for $497. I don't usually shop tires on price, I am more concerned with getting the best tire I can find on my vehicles, but this was an unexpected expense so I'm working to make due here.

The LT tires I have now were 2 years old when I bought them from a fellow forum member and I ran them for 3 more seasons, so I got a solid 5 years of service from them. Interesting that the two curbside tires look horrible, as you can see in the pics, but the street side tires don't have the same cracks. I think some tire covers may be a good investment.

As far as the mud, this was supposed to be a "temporary" parking place for the RV, I just framed out a section of lawn with landscape timbers, and added ground cloth and wood chips. Worked great until we had that big Jan thaw and I wound up having to bring the TT back to some muddy conditions.

Interesting that while shopping I found these Greenball Towmaster ST235-85-16 tires in Load Range F.

Yes, tires are no place to cut costs when you are talking about your safety and the safety of others you share the road with.

LT tires are definitely the way to go. But no tire can just be parked on the dirt for long periods without this happening. Some people also feel strongly about covering the tires to protect from UV. A good coating product may offer just as much protection.

I am replacing five that look just like yours this week. Better to spend $620 on tires,mounting and balancing than to spend hundreds more on repairs to the RV when the tire goes BOOM! And no, I am not taking the trailer to the tire shop, I am removing all four tires from the fiver and taking them and the spare to the valley to swap them out.

they do that for trailer tires? or did you just take the tires off trailer and take to them for replacement?.. intresting. I love DT..

This is why we get the road hazard from Discount Tire. Once they replaced all 5 for $45.

I wouldn't run them anywhere.

I would have replaced them before the last trip.
But I might still run them one more short trip in cool weather if you are in a time crunch to be ready.
