That's what I do as well, sort of. I have the cord on a high wattage timer. I turns on about 2 hours before I need to drive it.
I see no point in leaving it on 24-7, and since the OPs truck isn't a daily driver, there's zero point in having it plugged in for multiple days that the truck isn't being driven. It's pretty much noting more than a waste of electricity.
