Guess I'll head down to Lowes today and get a timer. I see they even have some with remote control!! :C
Verify that it will do high wattage. the one I have has two outlets on the bottom.
It also has a switch on the top to bypass the timer and turn on the outlets.
My brother daily drives his Duramax in Spokane. It hasn't been above 16 degrees here in a week or so. He hasn't had any fuel problem. He doesn't plug the truck in either.
I've had an issue in Spokane. Fill up tank when leaving Seattle, get to Spokane and park pickup in driveway for a few days when it's cold like this. I'm not sure Seattle diesel is good when cold like this, so I always add power services white bottle when filling up over there in the winter.
Bingo. This is likely the main cause of any gelling issues, anywhere.
The oil companies/suppliers have the additives dialed for the climate, but they can't predict where you'll use the fuel, so they go by the law of averages and weather history.
Or everyone would be pumping maple syrup like the guy with his farm tank of summer diesel.
