I have lived in Alaska for about 32 years. I found a cab over I like and I feel is a fair price. I just need to find a good deal on the mounts for my F250 crew cab short bed. I want to go with Torklift frame mounts.
Seems like between the mounts and the tie downs I am around $1200+ the cost of the camper. It's hard because I could spend the same amount of money and get a 5th wheel sliding hitch and buy a 5'er with much more room. Granted, then I can't tow my toy. But I don't see being able to do that without getting an extendahitch setup with a cab over.
I was fortunate to find a set on the Anchorage Craigslist for just the front mounts and the rear pieces that match up to the factory hitch for $375 that I had a friend in Anchorage pickup. I used that setup for awhile till I found a complete Super-hitch with camper tiedowns and 32" super-truss on Craigslist in Washington State for $350, where my sister picked them up and them took them to a Freight Forwarder in Seattle that ship directly to Kodiak for $150. It took time and patience, but saved alot of money from new. Hope this helps!
