Bjohns said it all better than I could have myself. As for Sheffield, be really carful going across the creek. The concrete corduroy crossing can be treacherous for long RVs and during high water.
Lizard Creek Campground is a treat and well kept secret like Lewis Lake Campground in YELL. Sadly most RV'rs are now wanting hookups and the NPS is still way behind on that improvement. IMHO, that is a good thing.
Solar is not a good alternative in YELL and GRTE due to the campgrounds being old school and having a good tree cover in them. Isn't that a good thing? As well as afternoon thunderstorms that cloud and pass, cloud and pass. So charging up, via your driving around, is a better way. Large vehicles don't fit in the purpose designed parking areas and pull outs. They worked as a throttle device to limit the number of visitors in anyone site, so as the people there can experience the area and attraction and not feel they are at a sold out super bowl game.
Enjoy the parks, but plan and prepare before arriving. Don't expect the red carpet to rolled out for you, because there are two many ahead of you. Late June, July and early August is BUSY. So if you are arriving after 12 noon and expecting a campground, you are going to be disappointed. Plan on staying outside the park and arriving first thing in the morning and securing your campsite before 9 am or earlier. Like Bjohns shared, then plan your day of sight seeing, not the other way around.
These National Parks are America'a Best Idea. Let's not make them America's Best Idea that is no longer available to our future generations.
