The rear overhang does affect towing and ground clearance, but there is enough weight froward of the rear axle that it is not unloading the front axle due to occupants. My truck has about 7' of my camper aft of the rear axle, but the fresh water tank is against the forward wall followed by the gray and even half of the black tank forward of the rear axle. If I didn't use a weight distribution hitch on my heavy trailer, that would affect more of the front axle weight than how the camper is loaded or where the occupants are currently located.
