YouTube and truck campers

Question for you fine folks.

Do you watch YouTube and follow any channels? Do you know of any channels that are truck camper specific? I haven't found one and I follow a few RV channels and enjoy the information and journeys they take. I personally use YouTube a lot for information and entertainment.

I ask because last night as I was finished washing my TC I was backing it into my rv storage my neighbor stopped and was admiring the TC. He is retired and in his late 60's and was reminiscing about having a TC when he was a boy and how he didn't know people still use them (there is one other in my area and he pulls a fishing boat) and it got me thinking that my generation and those younger might benefit from some truck camper channels.

Thoughts?

  • There is probably room for a TC channel, but who knows if anyone will watch it or not.

The casual observers get a surprised look on their face when they see the inside of mine whether they asked to see the inside or are simply walking by. Probably, some of the rest of you get the same. I always get ... I didn't know they were so big inside. Frankly, most people haven't thought about a TC as being something that is possible.

There are definitely "old fashioned" models that are still being made. I don't think many models with slides fit in that mold.
  • On youtube the only TC blogger I've seen is ColoradoCamperman. He recently switched from a big fifth wheel to a small truck camper.

I don't get it... I had the exact same thing happen to me when I went on a short trip Memorial Day... My first trip with my 'new to me' 2015 F450, a retired lady running the overnight lot said "That seems so out of place with such a nice new truck with one of those old fashioned campers on it".

    I don't get it.... :h
  • Funny, I am in the heart of TC country. There are at least 6 truck campers in my dog walking loop in my neighborhood. In my group of friends that ride quads/dirtbikes/RZRs there are more TC's than anything else. I see a lot of truck campers all the time. But usually they're on a way one drive from home to their favorite riding area or fishing hole. You wouldn't find them plugged in at a RV resort. Nor bouncing from one RV Resort to another RV Resort. And we're all 30-40 years old. So how old is younger? LOL.

And really an interesting study would be the average age of the 1st time RV buying???

We bought our tent trailer when I was 32. 1st RV
Bought our truck camper when I was 35. 1st TC
Just bought a toy hauler now at 41 and keeping the TC.

Buying an RV has so many factors. You got to have some $$ to make it happen so kids and buying your 1st home come into play. Then the size of the RV is dictated a lot by how much and fast your family grows.

Definately would add to the exposure of the joy of not towing a beast. I too am one of the only ones here that has a TC, but see lots out in the desert areas that guys go to, ( and gals!).
Most are towing their SXS's, or buggies though. I am just towing either my boat, or my Jeep for excitement!
I wonder why folks don't use TC's more, as they sure fit my uses well. The younger set does not seem to be into using them though.

Yeah we get odd stares (and I consider the Pac NW sort of a TC Mecca, see them often but not in the younger sector) as we have a young family and I like to tow and get out of RV parks!
