another option would be a GMC 6.0LS, it shouldn't me that hard in your truck and you don't mind getting your hands dirty. its just seeing what is available for converters so your factory dash works properly. I Imagin you would have to go through the similar process if you went to a 6.2, so cost wise you should be able to get a 6,0 with a 4l80 or 6l80 for way cheaper than a 6.2 but you never know. I hate mixing ford/chev but for power and milage on a budget the 6.0 is hard to beat
Yikes. A 6.2 Ford motor swap is really out there for a daily driver type vehicle. But a LS swap?
Now you’re just being corny.
Think about context. This is about a vehicle that is intended to be a turn key driver/camper hauler. Not Roadworthy Rescues.
LS swap is a great idea if
A. You have a shop which the OP doesn’t. That’s hundreds of frustrating hours in the cold n rain.
B. You actually have the solutions for the really tricky stuff like making EVERYTHING in the old truck work with the new drivetrain.
C. You’re after a weird, down the rabbit hole of custom parts, junkyard runs and we’ll just a complete plethora mess of things to figure out. No point in even beginning a list. It’s just ridiculous.
You could work a part time job for the same amount of hours and less frustration than it would take to do a Sooper Doody LS Swap and just have and extra $10-20k to put down on a truck that is actually designed and assembled by a manufacturer.
Someone has been watching too many Diesel Brothers type shows on TV!

you don't work on much stuff do you.. haha a ls swap into a newer truck is a weekend job, yes there are a few interfaces you have to buy but not that bad. what makes it attractive is that there are so many of them for dirt cheep, usually you can get a 6L with a trans and complete wiring harness for about 1000 bucks that needs nothing for work. then another say grand for an electrical interface and anything else you need like mount adapters and such if you can't make them your self, and you are running down the road with 450hp and way more reliability than the ford 6.2
I am not a chev guy by any means it is just a stupid easy conversion. its just like people who do 12 and 24V Cummins swaps , but they are doing it because they think having the most obnoxious motors ever built is cool ;)
besides that was listed as a option, not at what he should do. a newer 2011 and up ford truck would be my choice with a 6.7 diesel. there isn't a gas engine that will haul as good as a diesel or last as long all while getting good milage. I may be a bit biased ;)
