I'm proud to be part of the club now. This is a long time dream fulfilled for me. We picked up our new Northstar 850SC last Monday at the factory in Iowa and took a leisurely trip back home getting used to the new rig.
Once we sort out a good place to put everything, it's going to be the perfect rig for us to get deep into some backcountry to hike and camp.
The truck went past 300,000 miles on the odometer during the trip back but handled the camper without even blinking. Other than feeling the center of gravity being a little higher on turns, I didn't notice any appreciable difference. I haven't weighed the combined rig yet, but it'll be right around the truck's GVWR of 9900 pounds. Loaded up, the rear end drops 1.5". No air bags, or any other suspension mods have been done. It rides level even all loaded up.
